Iron Removal Filter

Generally, raw water has iron in the soluble form as ferrous bicarbonate and insoluble forma as ferric hydroxide. Such water is not safe for use and has discoloration with visible precipitates that need to be removed. We offer modernized systems for effective removal of iron in the form of Iron Removal Filters. Water is injected with air from Air Compressor and then passed through an aeration chamber that is packed with a catalyst having manganese base. The following reaction takes place :

2 Fe (HCO₃)₂ + 1/2 O₂ + H₂O= 2 Fe(OH)₃ + 4CO₃
Then the water passes through the Iron Removal Filter, having the Catalyst Filtering Media. Oxidization takes place and the remaining ferrous iron gets converted to ferric hydroxide, which is then removed by filtration.
