Manganese Greensand Filter Media



w offer manganese greensand filter media, which is a purple-black filter medium used for removing soluble iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide from well water supplies. The manganese greensand filter media also has the capability of removing radium and arsenic. It is processed from the mineral glauconite which is a zeolite. Using the ion exchange properties of this natural zeolite, a manganese dioxide coating is deposited on the surface of the glauconite grains. Each grain has a finite amount of manganese dioxide coating it. Unlike in-situ treated media, there is no need for any extensive pre-conditioning of the manganese greensand filter media to try to apply a coating. The manganese greensand filter media is ready to install in the filter and be regenerated. The manganese dioxide coating acts as a catalyst in the oxidation reduction reaction of iron and manganese. used in two methods of operation
